Nike SB Dunk Low Pro E
The Dunk Low Pro E is was created as part of greater Nike’s Move to Zero campaign and is all about the sustainable details. The team and I worked very hard to bring this project to life. To say it was a heavy lift is an understatement. Two years of development, a revolutionary design ethos, numerous sample rounds, extensive tooling exploration, brand new methods of make, the latest in sustainable materials from top to bottom, and of course, a ton of wear testing to make sure it skates. As always, the team rose to the occasion and created something transformative, both for skateboarders and for the planet.
THE DETAILS
The laces are made from wasted yarn. This means they’re pre-dyed yarns left over from other Nike material orders.
The collar may look thin but is the same foam package as the standard Dunk Low Pro, except with a stitched edge instead of a rolled one for a more sustainable construction
The foam midsole wedge is made from Crater Foam
The rubber outsole and sidewall include recycled Nike Grind
The Zoom Air bag is made from recycled TPU
The sockliner includes recycled EVA foam and a recycled polyester top cloth
The upper canvas is post-industrial recycled canvas
The upper overlays are rubber and include Nike Grind. Rubber was used because it’s a 1-for-1 creation process with very little waste.
All linings and reinforcements are made from recycled materials
The tongue label is made from recycled polyester and features minimal embroidery
The minimalist Swoosh as seen on the Janoski Flyleather was also included
We excluded additional packaging (toe stuffing, inner box paper) in an effort to use less
