Nike SB Shane

Australian skateboarder Shane O’Neill has been a Nike SB team member for 15 years, but this is was his first signature model with Nike SB. A longtime Zoom Janoski rider, it was clear from the start that Shane wanted to keep the foundation of his model aligned with the Janoski, but differentiated through construction, materials, and details.

The Shane is split into three clearly defined segments: a durable suede forefoot, a classic canvas midfoot, and suede overlays on the lateral/medial sides. Where the first two pieces are kept relatively simple, the suede overlays pack on the detail with accents like thick stitching, artfully placed perforations, and thin outlined Swooshes. The lacing system is deceptively simple, featuring both traditional eyelets and a ghillie lacing system, allowing the skateboarder to pick the lockdown that works best for them. To finish it off, O’Neill’s signature sun graphic — a nod to his Australian heritage — appears on the tongue, sockliner, and heel tape badge.
